The Regional Nurse Consultant is responsible in delivering and monitoring the delivery of care to ensure that the health, well-being, and safety to our developmentally disabled clients are held to the highest degree of quality of care.
Typically, this would be a Monday through Friday position – 8 hours per day/40 hours per week. Start and end time could be somewhat flexible (example: 8a-4p or 9a-5p).
This position would cover Madison, Janesville, and Beaver Dam/Juneau. Mileage and Travel time will be paid.
The pay rate is $40 per hour.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
Be licensed as a registered nurse in Wisconsin pursuant to s. 441.06 for at least 2 years.
Preferred experiencing working with developmentally disabled clients.
Supervisory experience in caring for staff.
Ability to multi-task, work autonomously and interdependently.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR REGIONAL NURSE CONSULTANT
Demonstrates sound communication, leadership/coaching, and organizational skills.
Has an acceptable criminal record and background information disclosure.
Has acceptable pre-placement drug screening results.
Good written and oral communication skills and organizational skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Holds a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s record, access to a vehicle during work hours, and proof of insurance if applicable.
Functions of Position:
Adheres to all applicable state and federal regulations including but not limited to DHS 83, DHS 88, DHS 89, WI Chapter N6, HIPAA, and CLIA.
Performs nursing tasks as in accordance with physician written orders and within standards of care set by Wisconsin State Board of Nursing, Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act, and other governing agency regulations.
Remains knowledgeable on regulations and current industry trends and implementation of best practices.
Educates, delegates, and oversees compliance of medically oriented tasks to direct care staff.
Provides annual staff observations on lifts and transfers.
Protects clients and employees by implementing, educating, and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Participates in pre-admission assessments to help determine appropriateness for placement in a CCLS program.
Completes nursing assessments as indicated by CNO.
Participates in care planning and outcomes.
At least monthly, conducts on-site reviews, at each licensed and certified location, to include but not limited to, medication regimen reviews; health record reviews and identification to problematic health trends and interventions to health; medication storage system audits and medication destruction system audits.
Notifies client’s physician and team of significant changes in clients physical and mental condition and applies interventions as indicated and updates coinciding documentation.
Evaluates clients to determine the need for services and makes referrals to other services as appropriate.
Acts as liaison with ancillary agencies/services pertaining to supports for residents.
Review’s client hospital discharge paperwork to ensure follow-up care is provided and documentation is updated to reflect changes.
Functions as a Regional Nurse Consultant to CCLS regional trainers for medication administration classes and observes trainers annually as assigned.
Collaborates with the team on investigations and ensures documentation is in place and proper notification protocols are followed.
Encourages transformational environment by encouraging continuous team collaboration, communication, education, and support.
Serves as a mentor to care staff in providing 1:1 education when indicated to ensure highest degree of quality of care.
Participates in fact finding investigations, makes medical recommendations and completes any necessary follow-up.
Attends staff meetings, client meetings and appointments, and other meetings as assigned.
Maintains client confidentiality and protects company operations by keeping information confidential.
Is familiar with the electronic medical record system and completes a periodic review of medical records or reviews as requested.
Implements and upholds all CCLS policies and procedures.
Attends all company mandated training as scheduled.
